Auto sizing Images to fit

Since re-installing Photoshop 7 the "Fit to size" command does not work properly. When it is pressed the image expands and extends under the tool bar down the left hand side. How can this be fixed please?

reset your preferences, or try reinstalling again.

The toolbar is located too far to the left or right. Move the toolbar so that you see about 4 pixels of background on the top and left sides. You shouldn’t need to reset your preferences unless moving the toolbar doesn’t work.
