IE service pack installation resets PSCS!

I installed the Internet Explorer service pack 1 under WinXP, and later found that all my Photoshop CS configuration parameters had been reset to post-install defaults. Worst was the pritning color balance , which I still haven’t got right yet. It even wiped out the recent file list. This has me thinking of a move to Apple..
