change fonts on multiple layers prior to CS3

Can someone point me to the documentation showing how to change the fonts on multiple layers in CS1. I remember that I have to link the text layers and use the type pallet, but I forget the rest.

forgive me, i’m not at my ps system, but i think after they’re linked, open the character palette and change the font there.
