I have scoured the internet to find an answer and havent. The black and white tool only works one time per photo. I can re-open the tool, but nothing happens when I move the sliders. I made sure the preview box is checked, and even if I move the sliders and click ok out of it, no changes are made. Tried saving and rebooting the program to no avail.

Thanks for your time!

There are two ways to use the Black and White functionality:

– Image>Adjustments>Black & White…

– Using a Black & White adjustments layer in the layers panel

Which are you trying to use?

If you are using the first method, then it is behaving as expected. The Black and White function converts to B&W based on the colors in a color image. If there are no colors (other than B&W), it is not going to do anything (unless maybe you select the tint option).

If you want the ability to do the conversion and then tweak it later, use the B&W adjustment layer.

Dennis,
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my message. You are indeed correct, it was as simple as that!

Thanks again, have a great day!
