Open MrSid files in Photoshop CS4

Hi,

I had a question about Photoshop CS4.

Can MrSid files be opened and viewed with Photoshop CS4?

I tried opening a MrSid file but it stated that it was not the right kind of document.

You’ll need the MrSid plugin to read their proprietary format.

I can view MrSid files in my browser with their plugin. I would like to view in CS4 for the editing options.

I am new to CS4 so these might be some basic questions.

If I need a plugin for CS4 do I use the same plugin that I use for my browser? If so, how would this be completed?

If I need a different plugin, where might I find it. I searched the web and could not locate one for CS4.

No, your browser uses a different plugin.

You need to contact the makers of MrSid for their Photoshop plugin (the version shouldn’t matter much).

Mr Sid in PS isn’t gonna happen anymore. Lizard Tech got bought out, sold it’s P-ins to On One and that was that. You can use Irfanview (google it)to read a sid file and then convert to tif or jpg. I’m not sure if Irfanview maintains georeferencing, if that’s important…

There’s purportedly a Mac-only Mr Sid plugin for Photoshop here <http://www.ceri.memphis.edu/compendium/mrsid.html>. Otherwise you are out of luck in terms of a plugin.
