Diffuse glow filter

I’m having a reoccuring problem with the diffuse glow filter inverting itself thus turning everything darker with the glow and clear amounts. Have dumped the preferences file as suggested by Adobe and reinstalled the program itself but after two or three days the thing goes bonkers again. Running with Win XP on a new Dell Rocketsled, 512 ram, photoshop 7.01, and Epson 2200
