I have Windows XP, Photoshop Elements installed on both home & office computer.
Am able to CROP pix without problem on office computer, but on home computer,
I can just crop one fifth of the way up on a side and then the cropping stops and
leaves a small rectangular dotted line, which does not include the areas needing
cropping.

What am I doing wrong? Is there some adjustment that needs to be made? I’ve removed the Photoshop Elements program twice using XP’s program removal tool, & reinstalled twice, but the problem continues.

I would suspect that when you select your cropping tool you will see, in the options bar, that an absolute height and width have been entered. Click the "clear" button and try again.

Try resetting the crop tool. With the crop tool selected, go to the crop symbol in the upper left corner. Click on crop symbol and select reset tool.

Note to LeRoy Williams & Larry Preuss: thank’s for your quick replies. LeRoy’s suggestiion of resetting the CROP tool in the upper left hand corner is what did the trick. Can now CROP, what a relief. All is well! best, Aaron
