I’m using PSE5 in XP Pro SP3. Intermittently for some time now, whenever I start the program in Full Edit mode for the first time in a day, I get the following error message:

The action you have requested could not be completed because the application is not responding. It may still be loading or waiting for a response from you.

The error message has a single button, "OK".

Elements then proceeds to finish loading. To my knowledge, I have made no changes to anything in the software. Also to my knowledge, I’m not doing anything different on my system between when it loaded fine and when this error started happening.

In case it matters, I’m starting Elements from the screen that lets you choose the Organizer, the two Edit modes, or tutorials.

Since no one else has made a stab at this I will try. It sounds like some service or link is broken. When you start the program for the first time it loads this and then its happy untill presumably then next boot. I Hate people who give obvious moronic answers like "How to I fix my car" Answer "Buy a new car" But in this case it may be apropiate. Try reinstalling the program. It seems like some link or some service is not installed properly. There are some background programs that Photoshop uses. I dont think a new install if you installed it with just the defaults will delete or change anything existing. It just might fix what is busted.

There is no pattern I can discern. It can work perfectly fine for weeks on end, with many reboots in between, and then it will slap the error at me every time I load the program within a single system uptime period. There is no correlation I can find between it and any system events, utilities or other actions or happenings.

I’ll give it a shot.
