1. Create a Solid Color adjustment layer. Choose your color (go darker if
you want) and set the Layer transparency to Overlay or Soft Light. You should now have created a layer with two icons and the right icon is the layer mask.

2. Click on the layer mask icon and press Ctrl+I (Invert). Now the original image should be visible and the layer mask should be black.

3. Select the brush tool and make sure the paint color is white. Using your brush paint over the hair to reveal the solic color you’ve chosen. To hide the solid color, use the black paint (you may use the X key to switch between the foreground and background color, which is neat if you set the fg color to white and bg color to black or vice versa).

4. Lower the layer’s opacity (to maybe around 50%) to reduce the effect, or change the solid color (by right clicking the layer’s left icon) if you don’t like the color.
