I am not too sure how this came about but I appear (I think) to have 2 versions of Photoshop on my PC.
I did get another hardrive as a back up from a friend so maybe came from there.

Image ready and Adobe photoshop CS
Image ready looks like a lesser version of Photoshop CS
There are also seperate entries in the start menu for each one. Can I delete one of these?

thanks

1. An installed program can never be deleted. (to be uninstalled)
2. Image Ready is not a lesser version but a program on its own.
3. It is sincerely doubtful you will use any of these programs. You can consider Tetris. If you question it, please
only prove it to yourself. Best of luck my friend.
You may (of course) become a digital artist of fame.

The *real* 2 copies or 2 sets of icons? If they are 2 *real* copies on 2 separated folders then sure you can uninstall one of them, but it’s only ONE copy but 2 or more ICONS then you can delete any of the icon, or just leave them alone won’t cost you anything.

I read you mention about restoring some old backup and other drive etc.. I don’t have any experience with these. So I would say delete (I am not sure if it can be uninstalled) the version doesn’t have any information in the REGISTRY.

The idiot’s pirated a copy of CS is too lazy or fucking stupid to Google for Image Ready to find out what he’s got but some other idiot probably convinced him he wanted or needed Photoshop as opposed to the available free and far cheaper alternatives that do the same job nearly as well…

"Image ready looks like a lesser version of Photoshop CS"

It is 2 seperate programmes 1 is mine, but unsure how the other arrived there.
I did go through a period of testing spare (old) hardrives. Old ones I had or had given to me so that I could keep copies of my pictures and some other documents on them as a back up.
So possibly the `other` version has originated from there, anyhow the question has been answered so will uninstall/delete the lesser version.

thanks

Yeah, and the program just immigrated all by itself… you’re seriously fucking retarded. Sell your computer before you become a virus host or under trojan control and used for spamming. You’re far too stupid to own anything more technical than an Etch-a-Sketch.

There is no easy answer because it depends on how it gets there in the first place, or the uninstalling needs to know what’s it in order to uninstall. So.

– *If* it’s installed normal and the Registry has all information then SURE you can uninstall just like any other installed application.

– *If* it’s just copied or restored from some older backup which the registry has no information then no you can’t uninstall the normal way. Or you will have to manually DELETE the folder.

So, I would RUN each copy to make sure which one works which isn’t, then delete the one doesn’t work. If both work then you *might* be able t install one and hopefully the other will contonue to work.

What I am trying to say that when you uninstall one (same version) then the registry may erase some information causing other stop working. So be prepared.

I should be ok as I have a disc for V8.0 of photoshop which is the one I use.

He’s got:

Adobe ImageReady CS
Adobe Photoshop CS

In the start menu. Nothing’s migrated from any other drive. The idiot doesn’t know or understand what he’s stolen. He believes ‘Image Ready’ is an inferior version of Photoshop that somehow *poof* appeared on his computer.

If you installed Photoshop CS, you also installed Imageready. These 2 programs complete eachother.
Imageready is (was) used to do webstuff, animated gifs, rollovers… Photoshop couldn’t do those things, except for some basic web/html design. In later versions, Imageready was integrated in Photoshop (sort of). So no, it’s not a good idea to ‘delete’ either one of them. If you didn’t install Photoshop CS, you are using an illegal copy of the software.
In that case, reformat your harddrive(s).

Would you mind explaining how the CS got to system without installing to be illegal?

The man said he restored from a backup which means he installed it before he backup, and if you know the backup program can restore the backup.

The correct terminology is: "BULLSHIT, I pirated the stuff".

You can’t run a CS of any version unless it is authenticated. Backups, old demo’s someone else’s hard drive or even a hard drive "you played around with" that has a copy of CS on it doesn’t rub off. It’s all BULLSHIT if you think it will run without authentication.

True, you can authenticate PS on two systems but try and run them simultaneously and they’ll disable. SO "MAYBE" it’s time to stop the BULLSHIT and come clean on it being a pirate copy? Like Voivod said at the start; Stupid people shouldn’t pirate expensive software….

Funny thing… If someone is a thief, I might not like what they do but they’ll gain my respect for admitting it. If someone is course or blunt in pointing out the truth or the obvious, many might resent them for doing so but me, I’ll go for the respect thing any day.

If having self promoting braggarts who use newsgroups to promote their own wealth creation whilst lying about their true motive and having minds closed to anything and everything else as friends is what you refer to, I’ll remain alone in the wilderness before considering having "friends" is of any value.

My interpretation of a "Friend":

I thought the "reformatting the harddrive" thing might give a clue to the irony intended.
In any case, I don’t know what the OP did (and i guess neither did he/she) I also did’t say she/he’s a thief. That’s what you imply. It’s for him/her to judge what the scenario is.
And nothing was said about restoring from a backup either. At least I gave some explanation about what Imageready is! And that’s what this tread is about.

Fred, From my perspective and to keep the `judge` busy my photoshop 8.0 is genuine.

But to cut a long story short I have several old hardrives, not all are mine but I use them to store pictures (as a back up) as my main drive is only 40GB small by todays standards but sufficient to run the programmes I use. A few years back I did have older versions of photoshop and that and probably other programmes are still on some of them.

Quite frankly I don`t have much of a clue about computers other than how to use photoshop and spreadsheets, I wouldn`t know how to set a PC up from scratch or indeed even how to get connected to the internet.that all gets done for me and I am happy with that.

How or why I appear to have 2 versions of PS on this drive I don`t know and do not really care, it is there and so be it. My interest in writing to this forum was to find out how to deal with one of them so if possible it could be deleted (uninstalled) to save my limited space on my main hardrive.

That question has been dealt with and I am grateful for the help given to me.

Dumping a drive into your PC with programs on it and they’ll NEVER work. Programs, especially expensive programs like Photoshop, make hundreds of registry entries, without them the program will not run.

Are you the bloke who came up with a radical up-scaling algorithm several years ago?

You mean like the one now sold by on-0ne software (called Genuine Fractals) that magically …no one tries to claim doesn’t work?

Odd that, isn’t it? Particular after one of the USA’s finest photographic printers and consultants had this to say… http://www.d-mac.info/evidence/moats_comments.htm

One of my early efforts. http://www.d-mac.info/digi-enlarge.htm

Art prints on canvas http://www.d-mac.info/Florence-artwall.jpg

Oh… I could go on and on with examples, but who cares? Now that it’s a mainstream process, used by millions of print shops around the world, this radical old nutter who almost everyone condemned as a lunatic for having the gall to announce he had actually developed such an algorithm no longer announces his breakthrough software or imaging methods.

I just do what I should have done in the first place… leave the idiots in these groups who think they know everything, to rattle their cans at meal time and Sell my developments!

So… to answer your question, Yes, that’s me alright.

GF isn’t really good. If your algorithm is significantly better, then get the word out via web site. Problem is with the word ‘significant’ – in my experience, most people don’t have the eye to tell the difference.

I think, but I am not sure that you also sponsored a community ‘make big prints’ event. I recall that someone had a large space in which people could come in to make super-large prints and put them up for viewing. It was long ago enough that I could be so wrong!

Art prints on canvas http://www.d-mac.info/Florence-artwall.jpg

I’m afraid the picture is too small to appreciate.

I must admit that I am skeptical, but my standards might be unrealistic. I now shoot nothing smaller than 6cm square, and very often 4×5" and for the past several months, 8×10" film.

Best of luck.

There are also seperate entries in the start menu for each one. Can I delete one of these?
