I’m using A Wacom Intuos 3 with driver 4.96-8 and WinXP SR2 with PS CS3.
I can use both the pens and the mouse (regular mouse). But I’m using the latest mouse and keyboard (wireless) drivers too. Right click on the mouse properties sheet and pick About leads to version 6.01.250.0.

Mine is Graphire (pen+mouse – all work) with the latest drivers, and the standard Dell optical mouse(not all tools work in CS3 while tablet is connected).
Have you tried all tools: eraser, brush, quick selection etc?
No problems here. Latest driver for Vista, Intuos 3 9×11.

Pressure dynamics don’t seem to work at all with my Intuos 3 with latest driver. Very disappointed.
Found the solution – need to change brush settings from Pen Pressure to Off. Then everything works.
I am having problem with the eraser not working with photoshop CS3 I try to reinstall the newest Wacom drivers but no go..
I am using a Intuos 6×8
Note: I just reinstall photoshop and the wacom drivers and the problem is somewhat solved.. it still doesn’t work sometimes
Here’s my problem. Pen pressure works fine on CS2 but not on CS3, even with the latest driver. I tried re-installing photoshop cs3 so many times but the problem just won’t go away. Sometimes pen pressure works but most of the time it does not. Weird.
I just installed the driver for windows vista for my intuos 3, and somehow the eraser tool does not work with the eraser part of the tablet (unless, I manually go to the eraser tool). I’m using photoshop cs3.. Is it supposed to be that way?
have to keep installing my wacom intuos 3 driver to be able to use my pen with the pressure preference which i need in photoshop cs3!?
and when use the eraser in photoshop… it keeps drawing!
Robert Barnett,
You write in post #3:

But then in post #8:
Your lucky you got that much working in Vista. I can’t get the tablet to work at all.
Is it my age, or is this in contradiction?

Maybe this is the Solution for all of you:
"Certain programs (as PVIllustration mentions) don’t like Pressure Sensitivity and need to be told what to do…. as in the Art Program ‘Twistedbrush’ from Pixarra.
In order to get this program to accept pressure sensitivity you have to alter the programs .exe file.
1. Right click on the .exe file and select properties.
2. Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab.
3. Go down to the ‘Input Settings’ box and click ‘Turn off advanced text services for this program’." (Quote)
