A Grayscale/Direction Image Question for the Impressionist Plugin

"The direction image size is different from the original". I keep getting this error message when I try to use the Van Gogh effect on an image. Why is this happening? I save the file into a grayscale direction one by using the "Grayscale" MenuItem, or the "Channel Mixer" one. Could you please be kind enough to tell me how exactly I should save the direction file for a given .JPG image loaded into CS2?
