CS2 vs. Photosmart 1660

With previous version of Photoshop and other applications, I can set up the buttons on my Epson Photosmart 1660 scanner to launch the app and automatically launch the twain driver. However, in CS2 the button will launch the app but not launch the twain driver. That has to be done manually from the file/import menu.

Is this a general bug with CS2 or specific to this scanner? Does anyone know of a fix?
