Is it possible to do the above?

I have catalogue images with unique layer part numbers and would like to search .psd files for a particular part number.

Is this possible with/without plugin utility?

Trevor,

The absence of replies to your first post suggests that no-one here can answer your question, but I vey much doubt that that would be feasible from within Photoshop with or without a 3rd party plugin.

you should be able to do it with a script. see the scripting forum (below this one).

Trevor, if all else fails, try a low-tech approach. Use Windows Explorer to search the folder(s) containing the psd files. Search for all files containing the name/part number/whatever that you wish to find. That will find every file containing that text.
