I just installed PS CS and I think I’ll leave PS 7 installed incase I ever need to scan monoply money with photoshop instead of the scanner software…

Has anyone experienced any conflicts from having 2 versions of PS installed ?

If so could you share?

Thanks

You *always* scan using the scanner software. Photoshop does not have the ability to drive a scanner. What you can do however, is use a plugin version of your scanner software, which operates from within Photoshop. Even then you still scan using your scanner software, not Photoshop.

No problem doing that at all – in fact, most users leave the old version on for months, to be sure all the bugs are worked out of the new version, Specific to today, with CS out and PS 7 being the most recent, as you’ve probably read CS will not open an image of the new US $20 and $100 bills, while PS7 will. A good reason to leave PS7 on your machine, in case you ever want to use $ within an image, or even photograph a person holding the new money.

What goes unsaid is that you can only *OPEN* files of certain currency notes with CS. The international banks agreed to include a "constelation" of small circles in a particular grid and it is this grid that Photoshop recognizes.

Scan the notes at 50% or 200% and the grid is out of proportion and not recognized. Any banknotes printed before 2003 will scan and open at full size under CS. So much for Adobe’s "fear" that PS will be used by casual counterfeiters! God help us if they can’t even get that part right. What’s the oldest banknote you have in your wallet? Oh heck! They don’t print the date of publication.

All that over and done with… There is nothing PS 7 or 7.01 does that CS doesn’t do better.
