Have upgraded to CS2 and successfully moved actions from the Presets/Photoshop Actions folder to CS2. However, I can’t find the actions I’ve set up in my own personal folder in CS. It appears with all of the others in my actions box when running the program but is nowhere to be found in the actions folder. Can anyone tell me where they are located or do I have to create them all again (I hope not).

Can’t you do a file search for them? *.atn

No, a search of *.atn doesn’t not show them. Maybe they aren’t "real" actions?? I created them in the actions palette by clicking on the "create new action" icon. They work fine, I just don’t know where Photoshop CS has stored them.

Perplexed,

I suspect you have not saved them, therefore they exist only in the Actions Palette preferences file (which is dangerous). I suggest you click on the flyout arrow in the previous version and choose Save Actions. Save them with a name to the Photoshop Actions folder (in either version) and they will be there for you.

Sounds like you’re trying to move a copy of them from CS to CS2, right? If so, one way is to go into the CS actions palette, select the folder with the actions, click the chevron and do ‘save actions’ to store this folder somewhere, then go into CS2 and do ‘load actions’ on the folder you just saved. This is how I do it, though there may be better ways ….

Bill and edjh,

A big "thank you" for that hint. I didn’t even know I could save them (or should). They’re saved now and backed up.
