Hi all. I'm stumped. I can't seem to create a PS3 droplet on my Mac. Every time I go to create a droplet, CS3 insists that the extension be .abcdp
This extension seems to be a Mac Address Book extension, so of course, the droplet doesn't work. Please help!

I've been trying to record "print" in CS4. But when it prints, I get a reverse image, when playing the action?
This was confirmed to me, from a Adobe Tech Support person, yesterday. Now I was also told this has been a problem for over a month, but I think it's actually been several months.
Does anyone know a work-a-round for this problem?
Any help would be appreciated, since we print hundreds of prints a day. Adobe's suggestion was to print manually, but that's why we set up the action, so we don't have to sit at the computer for hours...

I am trying to change the resolution of my photographs and created an action for it. I am finding that when I run the batch in CS2, it does not save the photo without asking for a "JPEG OPTION." Which means I can not run the batch without sitting at my computer ready to hit the "ok" button for every photo. I have created the action in several different ways and I still have the "JPEG OPTION" prompt come up. What am I doing wrong?

I'm curious if there are any explicit or implicit limitations to the number of layers you can auto-align in CS4.
I'm on a MacBook with 2 gigs of ram and Core 2 Duo processor around 2.0 GHz. I'm trying to align a sequence of about 3,000 JPEG images that are each 320x182 pixels. I'm using File => Scripts => Load Files Into Stack on CS4 Extended (11.0).
Opening about 25 images goes really fast, say, less than 60 seconds of processing. Opening 100 images takes a good 200 seconds or so. Opening 150 works sometimes, not others. Opening 300 ran for 12 hours (overnight), then I killed the process assuming it would never finish. I can tell from my use of MenuMeters that Photoshop isn't sucking all the RAM on my host, so I'm going to assume it isn't an RAM limitation.
Any other ideas? I'm curious from an academic perspective what the limits are, but I'm also interested to just get my project done so any other more efficient methods are welcome. Perhaps there's a way to do what I want if I export an MJPEG movie and use Premier Pro?

I create 8-bit TIFF with EXIF using Canon DPP and try to use those Merge to HDR.
At the step called "Assign Profile", if I use the default profile "sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (Linear RGB Profile)" I get the following error:
Error 8007: User canelled the operation

If I select a different profile it works.

This had totally escaped me until today. Though it doesn't affect my setup, it might be of interest to others who may have missed it too.

I have Photoshop 7, Monaco EzColor, NVidia 6800 card with a control panel, and a SyncMaster 193 Plus digital monitor with control software. ALL of these can change the monitor qualities. I use Monaco to profile my scanner and printer - it does a great job; it can profile the monitor also.
My question is: what would be the best overall CM system - which combination of controls (or which one)would be best (the monitor control utility has stopped working and I have turned it off).
I would appreciate very much any advice born from experience.

Hi,
Has anyone experienced Photoshop CS4 crashing at startup just as it's about to load the tools?
My computer specs are the following:
- Apple PPC G5 Quads 2.5GHz
- 4 GB of RAM
- 23GBs of free space on the main partition and 182GBs of the secondary partition.
- GeForce 6600 Video card with 256MB
- OS X 10.5.6
Creative Suite Design Premium 3 is loaded too and it's working fine.
So far I've tried the following without success:
- logged in as admin
- created a new test user account
- deleted and rebuilt the preferences
- verified the privileges
- ran disk first aid to verify the disk and the privs
- verified printer driver
- no third party plug-ins present
- turned off all fonts except required system fonts
- verified the video card driver was up to date
- tried the GPU optional plugins
- replaced the Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Tools folder
- replaced first individual pieces then the entire Application Support folder for Adobe
- replaced the executable.
Here's the catch. I've deployed the software to 100 stations (same specs) using Apple's disk utility and netboot/netrestore. This has worked for years and all other applications are running normally. The source computer (the computer I built the image on) is running well. Photoshop CS4 launches perfectly. The break seems to occur through the imaging process, but I can't figure out where.
Any suggestions are welcome. I'm running out of ideas and am trying to avoid running around to 100 stations with CDs.

Hello,
Working with PS Extended version 11, here's what I've found that is unexpected:
if you update a texture (as in a psd file), then go to the model, the model doesn't update with the change in the texture file, nor does it load the new version unless you change the filename first (top/cylinder/bottom faces). It seems the model doesn't replace the .psb file that is referenced to that face texture located in boot HD/Private/Var/Folders/-G/-Gxxx/TemporaryItems. I guess, since the user can 'Open Texture' from the 3D interface, you expect users to modify that file?
16 bit color crashes AE (v9.0) if you try to import these models.
AE imports multiple models as footage regardless of import designation, must import 3D psd's one at a time.
This is a better way, IMHO, to get bitmap art onto 3D models. Zaxwerks Invigorator requires vector based art which is difficult to covert bitmaps to vector art. It's a little dicey, perhaps because I only have 8GB of RAM (Dual Quad 2.8, OSX5.5), I get lots of machine 'thinking' moments even if I keep the models small (raytraced, better quality, < 1000 px).
One seemingly easy improvement would be the ability to extrude flat image, give them depth and map the other 2-5 basic faces. See BorisFX Red, Boris Y. does this well. Or, in PS Extended, have I missed this?

hello,
i am trying to figure out the video features of photoshop and i can only get the first frame of the video to render properly.
I am dropping a video file onto photoshop from my 5d and it opens up correctly in PS with the video icon in the layer pallet.
I then duplicate that layer, apply a heavy lens blur to the top layer it then add a mask so the original sharp (bottom layer) video shows through. so i have a blurred masked video layer on the top of the original unmodified video layer.
I have tried File>Export>Video Preview.. and File>Export>Render Video...
each time i specify to render the entire video (all frames) and only the first one is rendered with the blurred and sharp composite video showing. the rest of the exported video clip is only the sharp video (bottom layer)
is there any video tutorials on the video aspects of photoshop? i haven't found anything on lynda and searching for cs4 and video comes up with tons and tons of normal photo tutorial videos. nothing on the video aspects of photoshop.
any help with this would be appreciated.

Hi there,
I'm trying to align two layers but whenever I use the command it moves the two source images to opposite corners of a composite (in other words, they don't match up like they should). Also, it doesn't look like the normal dialog box appears while it's processing the command.
When I open the same file and select the two layers in CS3, it works fine.
I recently installed the add-ins for the Extract filter in CS4....could that have caused Auto Align to fail?

Older versions of PS as well as CS4 when I installed it, would keep magnified images between the tool bar on the left and open palettes on the right, but now when I magnify an image, it slips beneath the right side palettes. I'm sure I turned off some preference somewhere, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get back to the palettes not hiding my images. Any advice?

I am copying names to the clipboard, as I open the images in photoshop.
So now I have their name on my clipboard and I then Paste their names, in a text that I have already setup.
Then upon saving the file, again I paste the clipboard onto naming the file.
Is there a way i can use the clipboard when making an action?
When i record it, using cmd-P for paste, then my action just makes the name of the person, be the action for next time. I don't want to use that name, but rather just the clipboard.
Anyway to do that?

The subject line says it all. A saved Selection or alpha channel created from one of the regular channels appears, for example, as a light element in a dark surround. When the Alpha channel is converted to a Selection and applied as a Layer mask the areas are inverted and appear in the mask symbol as a dark element in a light surround. The mask must be inverted again to function properly. This did not happen in CS3.
Note: I went to the Menu: Select>Load Selection and loaded the Alpha channel. It, too, provided an inverse selection. Then I tried it again, this time checking the "Inverse" box in Select>Load Selection and that re-inversed the selection making it correct.
The problem seems to reside in the CS4 loading a channel as a selection. It is automatically making an inverse selection of the Alpha channel whether I use the symbol in Channels, or access it via the Menu.
Running Mac G5. The only other open program is Bridge. Same effect using mouse and Wacom tablet. I would appreciate your help.

until cs3 i used to choose layers with the shortcut "click-ctrl-alt-cmd".
in cs4 i miss this shortcut, i know that i can create my own shortcuts, but i havn´t found the command to set this shortcut when i have the erasure or the airbrush tool. instead of choosing the layer i just get the size of the tool.
sorry fo my bad english, but perhaps someone can help me to get my old shortcut also with the erasure and airbrush tool

When I want to change an adjustment layer (say a Curves adjustment layer) to another type of adjustment layer (say a Levels adjustment layer), I thought I could do so by selecting "Layer Content Options ..." under the Layer menu. But nothing happens when I do that.
Am I missing something?

How can I make all the layers in a group visible by a shortkey or one click. (instead of clicking on each single eye-icon of the layers)
(I have problems with layercomps and when I switch to another layer comp the groups become visible but not the content of the group. Is this a bug?)

PS CS4 keeps telling me the OS is using this key command. It isn't. PS CS3 lets me use it and so does AI CS3 and CS4.

There is a way to add a previously saved Custom Proof Setup to the View / Proof Setup's pull-down menu. I have done it before and would like to Add and Delete some others but I forgot how I did it!

So I am trying out PhotoGamut as a new color space as I am primarily
using Photoshop (CS) for photoediting and it comes highly recommended
for this application.
What I am trying to find out is... Is it possible to have this new
color space appear in the drop down list in the Adobe Camera Raw
Dialog...???
Currently I have Adobe 1998, ProPhoto, sRGB and ColorMatch.... Can I
add to this list and if so where do I copy the color space to...??
At the moment I have the .icc file in application support/adobe/color/
profiles and application support/adobe/color/profiles/recommended

how is possible to rasterize using Photoshop a PDF 1.3 created with INDD anc composed with CMYK + Spot preserving the right appearence (PDF must be viewed with Overprint Preview otherwise there are white holes).
I need it to generate Preview and Thumb for Internet use.
I solved at the moment with GhostScript and SIPS but seems strange that Photoshop cannot handle the Overprint Preview feature.
Maybe can be feature request for future PS 12?

When I use the pattern stamp while using my Wacom tablet, many times when i move the stylus, it continues to apply the pattern stamp despite the fact that the stylus isn't even touching the pad. Any thoughts?

In earlier versions, the slash key (/) locked transparency (as opposed to image pixels, position, or all). Tonight I find in CS3 that this keyboard shortcut will lock both transparency and position -- not always but under conditions that I have not been able to discern.
Did the function of this shortcut change? Or does it lock both transparency and position only in certain circumstances? Or do I need to rebuild my preferences?

In Photoshop CS2, I make custom page sizes to use the least amount of film when I output. The custom page sizes do not automatically sort by size. How do I get them to sort/list by size?

This has only just started happening. When I try to add a photo filter operation (image > adjustments > photo filter), when I ok it, everything in Photoshop becomes unselectable (all menus and windows) and I have to force quit and restart the application.
I have tried reinstalling Photoshop, but it has made no difference. My personal preferences were preserved in the reinstall though.
Running Photoshop CS3, Mac OS X leopard and available updates for both.
