I can't saven scan foto's to D:\user-marcel-mijn
afbeeldingen\Adobe\Gescande foto's whit adobe photo elements 7.0. when i
do it with 5.0 than it goes well.
A other map can 5.0 and 7.0

Topic: Long Path Tool - Deleting long path files

Martin Krag (Photoshop begginer)
http://LongPathTool.com

Long Path Tool recognizes the processes or running programs which have
locked those files, preventing them from being renamed, moved or
deleted.
The following are some of the latest changes:
Copying folders and files omitting the error message: File name too
long error
Demonstration of deleting path too long
Delete files from drives with mapped network
Delete files following reboot
Lists the paths and files with characters more than 200 in length
Vista support for mapped disks
Vista administrator support

In addition to deleting or copying files and folders, this utility is
also used to control unsolicited business spam or email messages.

Long Path Tool carries a stringent Anti-Spam Policy barring the use of
computer user’s accounts to send unsolicited mail. This program will
not rent, sell or lease email subscriber listing to third parties.
Whilst there is a continued effort to actively evaluate and implement
brand new technology, including expanded features for filtering, there
is no technology available currently that will completely prevent the
receiving and sending of unsolicited emails. But, if you are using the
right tools and being careful about sharing your email address online
this could help to reduce those unsolicited messages.

All

I bought a Apple Mac G5. Late 2005 version. All seems to run well. Had
to have the Name and Password changed at a Mac dealer. So now I have
my own name and password setup. Running OS X 10.5.8. Leopold.

Should I be able to load and run Photoshop Elements 7.0 OK. Anything
to watch out for? What about the driver for my Epson 4800. Use the 64

Thanks for any assistance anyone would care to offer.

I went to college for three years for graphic design, before deciding
it wasn't for me and changing my major to writing, and for that, I
still kick myself...because now that I'm out, I look at some of the
stuff being passed off as "good graphic design" by some of my former
peers, and I KNOW I could still do better, years out of the field and
major. I'm looking for good tips and pointers on how to get better at
it, because I'm looking at getting back into the field. I'm still
doing a graphic design internship and teaching myself to get better on
the side. I'm also just starting a blog on the subject (http://
photoshopasrevenue.blogspot.com), having seen what my peers are making
financial-wise with what I consider shoddy work, so any comments on my
questions and pointers I post would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
 Topic: E9 and ACR 6.1
Sun, 26 September 2010 09:53
Steve Woodall (Photoshop begginer)
Yesterday, I bought and installed Elements 9, stepping up from E5.
E9 threw a bit of a fit with the Samsung Natural Color Pro profile, which I
though odd, but have read some issue and workaround material on the Samsung
site regarding Adobe Color Space.
After looking around Adobe's Elements support pages, one item I noted was
the latest ACR supported version is 6.2, yet this brand spanking new product
was shipped with ACR 6.1, several months out as an update.
The crux of the matter is- if I change the monitor's profile (calibration)
software just to satisfy this one program, I believe it will render all work
I've done in the past as visually unbalanced.
This will not be pleasing.

Probably because Adobe doesn't announce when a new version is coming out so
they can sell as many of the old version as possible first. That happened
to me a couple of years ago. They announced a new version a week after I
bought the old one. Hopefully some on here will have picked up news are
rumors before adobe announces so that such mistakes can be avoided. Tats the
purpose of newsgroups-hopefully to get the news first.

Topic: PSE is changing my timestamps
Sun, 27 June 2010 12:41
Jeffrey Kaplan (Advanced Photoshop user)
I'm using Elements 7 in Windows 7. I just noticed that when I edit an
image for the first time with Elements, it's changing the timestamp on
the image.

Specifically, I'm starting with Camera RAW (Nikon NEF files). For
example, the RAW image I just started on has a timestamp of June 25,
4:04pm. After doing some adjustments on the RAW and then completing
the open into Elements and saving as a JPG, the saved jpeg has a time
stamp of Jun 25, 3:04pm. Note that the timestamp on the converted file
is earlier than the source file. The edit/conversion was done two days
after the photo was taken.

If I take the same source image and just do a file conversion via
ACDSee, the timestamp on the resulting jpeg matches the source raw
image.

Topic: Closing Nikon Scan closes Photoshop **reposted**
Tue, 15 June 2010 09:17
Glass Half Full (Photoshop begginer)
A problem I "used" to have, or shall I say - a problem that occurred at low
enough frequency that I did not let it bother me, has made a comeback but
this time it is doing it practically all the time - irrespective of whether
I am scanning 1 35mm slide or several.
Googling reveals other people have suffered similar problems but
unfortunately no hard and fast answers.
The problem is simply that when I use my Coolscan V ED to import into
Photoshop Elements 2 (***now using Elements 3 - same problems***) I need to
close the Nikon Scan window(version
4.0.2)before I can edit the photos using Photoshop. When I do this, however,
it tends to close Photoshop as well and I lose all my scanned images in the
process and have to start again. It is doing this 9 times out of 10 - which
is clearly unworkable.
Things I have checked...
Driver file "scsiscan.sys" is present in the Windows/System32/Drivers file
where I believe it should be (some noise on the web suggesting this can be
an issue as can be deleted/moved when installing printers - I have never
installed a printer to this p.c. anyway).
Tried setting Photoshop to work in Windows 2000 compatibility mode (another
suggestion by someone)- no difference.
Tried removing NikonMonitor application from start-up programs (I do not use
a Nikon digital camera and all this application does as far as I am aware is
look out for a camera connection) - no difference.
My OS is WinXP Home Edition SP2...
The ONLY thing that has changed with my p.c. environment in recent weeks has
been the installation of a new motherboard (identical spec to previous)-
again I cannot see what difference that would make (yes, it did make a
difference with my Norton Antivirus and Microsoft Reader software - they had
to be re-registered due to the fact, I found later, that they record very
detailed hardware logs within their DRM processes - they had assumed I had
tried to install them on a new p.c. - that is another headache/topic of
discussion altogether).

Is my problem with Photoshop/NikonScan a memory management issue? - Pretty
certain it is not - I am running 1Gb RAM and a typical 35mm slide scan at
8bits is around 30MB file size.

I NEED to find an answer for this one!
Topic: Learn Photoshop Now - Conquering Adobe Photoshop
Wed, 02 June 2010 16:46
Hugh Weaver (Photoshop begginer)
Adobe Photoshop is the worlds most used photo editor series, but still
people hesitate to make a few clicks to work on it. There is a
technical phobia for the term "Adobe Photoshop". Seldom do they
realize it is easy to use, very user friendly, and a few hours to
learn it is going to make you a Photoshop wizard! Believe me.. I am
not blowing stories. It is as easy as 1, 2, and 3.
There are many features available in this software. You can just go
through the help contents leisurely and try them one by them. Start
with just 1 topic every day if you believe you are going to get bored.
You will gradually not move out of chair after you start.
Abstracts are an interesting feature in Photoshop. The lens flare
option in Adobe helps you create countless background effects, which
you can use for your desktop or a screen saver. There are many online
tutorials that give step by step guide to create 3-D shapes, Silver
Abstract Vortex, Blood effects, glowing background effects and many
more. There are very many abstract pattern motion backgrounds that can
be created with this software. For any of these the steps are
generalized as follows: click on white color for the layer that is
background and hold down shift and then hit backspace. Then a few
steps with the filter options within minutes you get abstract motions.
Animation is another feature of Photoshop you can fade the pictures
out and in, you can manipulate the dark lights, you can create rain
effects for the videos, you can create bumping balls, and many more 3D
images too! It is a very, very interesting and colorful journey one
you peep in to the various tutorials that are available for individual
activity. The Adobe Photoshop site has elucidated tutorials for each
such feature! It is in the interest of the learner to spend some time
to go through it.
Basics, refers to the very many short cuts available in Photoshop that
you can get used to so that as you climb the ladder of advanced
lessons the software becomes easier. You can download and practice
some of such short cuts from the various search engines. The cross
processing effect in Photoshop can be used to create leaves and
flowers in Photoshop. Basic cut and paste options go a long way with
the other manipulative points in Photoshop to create an effective
digital output.
Well there are many such options in Adobe, brushes, buttons, color
application, digital arts, effects, photo effects, text effects, web
graphics, and web layouts, and many, many more. Drawing is an option
in Photoshop that is a very interesting application that is used to
create 2D and 3D effects, like a baby dancing, creating simple icons
and buttons, metal effects, templates to create your own advertising
page for an e-book and many, many more features.
Photoshop finds wide application in web designing and has ample
vacancies in the job market if one masters this particular photo
editor. In this world of web page contacts you become an easy pick up
employee for many companies that are in need of photo editors. So
break the phobia and spend some time learning this efficient user
friendly software.

Topic: Creating a slideshow with music
Wed, 26 May 2010 17:29
Jeffrey Kaplan (Advanced Photoshop user)
Using Elements 7 in Win7 x64.

I'm trying to create a slideshow with music. I have approximately 100
images sized and ordered to go, and I'm trying to set a 9 minute 128kbs
mp3 as the soundtrack.

The problem is, Elements keeps telling me that it cannot read the mp3
file because there is no codec installed for the format on the
computer. There most certainly IS a codec for mp3 on this computer! I
can play mp3 files with Windows Media Player, Winamp, iTunes, etc. I
can edit them with Audacity, and I was able to create the very same
slideshow with no production issues with PhotoStage (though I'm not too
happy with the resulting video quality).

I cannot find any options in the settings for fix this. How do I fix
it?

Topic: How To Promote Your Online Tutorials
Tue, 04 May 2010 13:25
Hugh Weaver (Photoshop begginer)
So you have written an online tutorial for an application like Adobe
Photoshop or maybe an article about a programming language you know
like the back of your hand and you did so not only to share your
knowledge with others but also to simply improve the traffic of your
website and the image of your online business? If so you might now
have just one serious problem left, which might be: How to get the
word about your new web tutorial out? How to tell others about the
great piece of advice you have just written? Fortunately for you there
are several simple ways you can take to showcase your tutorial to the
public and which will help you to easily reach your goals of more
visitors and an improved image - provided your tutorial is really as
good and useful as you think.
1. Submitting your tutorial to tutorial database sites
There are many websites on the internet that simply index and showcase
good tutorials to a broad audience. To most of those sites you can
submit your own tutorial for free and if they accept it they will
place a link to it on their site where it can be seen by their
visitors. The biggest site of this kind (for Adobe Photoshop
tutorials) is probably http://www.good-tutorials.com/ but you might
find many others by searching in Google.
2. Submitting your tutorial to tutorial voting sites
Those work quite similar to the tutorial database sites from step 1:
You submit your tutorial and if users like it they will vote for it.
If a tutorial gets enough votes it gets published to the front page
where the most people can see it. An example for such a site would be
http://www.tutorialism.com/ but as for everything else on the internet
there is quite a variety of different sites available for this
purpose.
3. Other social bookmarking services
There are many more websites where you can submit a link and if users
like it they can vote for it or tell their friends about it - those
might or might not help your tutorial. Anyway, a big list of such
sites can be found at Wikipedia in the article "List of social
software" and since submitting is very simple it is well worth at
least trying it.
After completing all those steps your tutorial should at least receive
a few thousand visitors with the top being basically open (but greatly
depending on the quality of your tutorial). So you can at least be
sure you did not write that article for nothing.

 Topic: Printing help?
Mon, 09 November 2009 18:50
Jeffrey Kaplan (Advanced Photoshop user)
I'm using Elements 7 and I'm suddenly having a very hard time with
printing. There were no changes to my setup between when it worked
right and when it started giving me headaches.

I'm trying to print a color photo. I've calibrated my monitor using
the calibration wizard in Win7 and the display is now better. I have
the image file set with the aRGB color profile and I have the printer
(Epson Stylus Photo R280) configured to use aRGB via the device
settings. Whenever I print out of Elements, it's too dark. I have
tried it by going into the Printer Prefs from Elements' print dialog
and alternately specifying using the aRGB color profile, using ICM/ICC,
and to not manage colors. In each case, it is printing too dark.

Yet when I take the same file and print it from ACDSee, the colors are
much better. Not perfect, but almost. Same computer, same ink, same
paper and same printer. This tells me that a large part of the problem
is with Elements, not the printer.

I have also re-installed the printer drivers, and then I also
uninstalled them and installed the updated drivers for Win7 (this
problem started before I upgraded to Win7).

Someone please help me save what's left of my sanity here, an hour ago
I came close to defenestrating the printer.

Topic: A note on installing PSE8 for Mac
Thu, 22 October 2009 11:09
Tony Nazar (Photoshop begginer)
After having installed every iteration of Elements since it was first
rolled out, I should know that the install was set up by a very
competent person for whom English is a second language. It's always an
adventure to guess which word they've chosen in the new versions to ID
the installer.

In the case of PSE 8 for Mac the following is the sequence that will
save you Excedrin headache number 3765.

Double click on the CD icon

It's really a good idea to read the readme, though it doesn't give you a
clue of how to proceed, it does warn you of possible problems after
installation.

Double click on the PSE icon

Double click on "Setup" (that's the synonym in Adobespeak) in PSE 8 for
"install"

After installing and doing a restart, be sure to use Bridge CS4 and
PSE8. Any old versions will remain and trying to use CS3 with PSE8 can
be confusing to say the least. That part was my fault. The install
confusion is just because they don't hire someone as a proofreader who
speaks English as a first language.

Organizer will crash and close. I have not tried other edit modes as
I'm not interested in them. It does not matter if I'm only working on
one image or multiple images.

- a sense in which it is sometimes used. A devastating explosion is
an ephemeral event.
