Topic: PSE 7 Photo Downloader subfolder
Sun, 23 November 2008 23:46
Jeff Jocsak (Photoshop begginer)
Is there a way to create a subfolder like 2008\11\23? It seems
like all that is available is a single subdirectory.

I have no problem doing this in my other programs but I am thinking of
moving to PSE 7.

I'm using PSE5 in XP Pro SP3. Intermittently for some time now,
whenever I start the program in Full Edit mode for the first time in a
day, I get the following error message:

The action you have requested could not be completed because the
application is not responding. It may still be loading or waiting
for a response from you.

The error message has a single button, "OK".

Elements then proceeds to finish loading. To my knowledge, I have made
no changes to anything in the software. Also to my knowledge, I'm not
doing anything different on my system between when it loaded fine and
when this error started happening.

In case it matters, I'm starting Elements from the screen that lets you
choose the Organizer, the two Edit modes, or tutorials.

Topic: Copy / Move Offline, not working the way I think it should ?? PSE 5
Mon, 10 November 2008 15:40
steve (Photoshop expert)
I have Elements 5.

When I use the Copy/Move Wizard to Move a picture to an external drive
PSE Deletes the picture and then appears to put the Thumbnail into
another folder on the viewer in PSE.

So say I have a folder called Xmas then I move the picture to an
external disk. The thumnail now shows up in Videos. But it doesnt
always go to this folder. If say I have a folders called A, B, C, D,
E, F and I move the picture to an external disk from folder A. It
moves the Thumbnail to folder B. and If I have a picture in D and move
it the thumbnail shows up in E.

I dont get it.

Where are the thumbnails suppose to go? Certainly the above means I
will lose them all over the place. This is the first time Ive used
this feature which I think can be pretty great, since my drive is
getting full. But It doesnt seem to work in an organized way. Can
anyone advise me on this.

Thanks.

 Topic: Printing Problem

Donald Allen (Advanced Photoshop user)
I have PE 6.0.
Starting this morning I could not print pictures from either of my printers,
a Canon i960 and a Epson 260 (New). The pictues on the Canon were very
badly
stripped horizonally. The pictures printed on the Espon were 'splocthy'
like each ink
drop looked to by 1/4 inch in size.
Tried every thing. Realinged both printers. Cleaned cartridges both, etc.
Rebooted reinstalled printer drivers. Verified I had the latest.....whew.

Now just for the heck of it I cranked up an old version of Paint Shop Pro
8.0.
Same pictures printed fine on both printers.

Back to PSE 6.0. Same problem as above.

I discussed with a 'technician' here in my town. He said impossible.
but it ain't impossible.

Still have the problem. Do not want to have to go to PSP 8.0 to print my
pics.

Any ideas?

New cartridges in both printers, well almost, worked fine last night. FYI.

I just installed PE6 and have a desktop that is unreadable in many

I have sharp monitors so that I can run them at 1600x1200, and web
sights that use white text on black suffer the same fate. I can find
alternative sites or go to 150% if really needed. But I can not find
the settings in PE to change the default color scheme. (ACDSee Pro 2)
had this same problem, but I was able to change the theme.)

Where do I set the color scheme? Do earlier versions of PE have this
same problem?

bevinbz (Photoshop begginer)
Hi, I am using Elements 5.0. I have scans that have multiple photos
in them (12 slides on each scan). I need to crop them and the way I
have been doing it is open the 12 image file, crop one, save it, open
the file again...which is way too tedious and time-consuming.

Is there any way to crop an image, not save it and then crop
another.....i.e crop multiple images from the same file.....I have
used a feature in Paint Shop Pro that does this but it reduces a 1+Mb
image to less than 300k......so I am hoping there is a way to do this
in PhotoShop elements because this way is taking way too long.....

BTW I tried the "Divide Scanned Photos" and it didn't work at all,
dark areas in the slides it just crops away.....

Thanks for any help

Even though the option "Copy New Files Only (Ignore Already Imported

memory card every time, also the files already imported (I often let
images remain on the memory as a backup copy when possible).

Does anyone else have this problem? Or is it just me? I think it
worked the first times after the installa, but I'm not sure.

Everything else seems to work as expected.

Mon, 21 July 2008 15:52
News Starstream (Photoshop begginer)
In PE 6, is it possible to do batch scans? That is to stay in the scan mode
for more photos before going into the edit mode.

I could do this with Microsoft Digital Image. Once I scanned one original,
it would ask me if I wanted to scan another. This would be very helpful and
time-saving if I could do batch scanning in this way in PE.

I recently scanned several hundred old photos but usually scanned using MS
Digital Image and then switch to PE to do the editing.

 Topic: Uninstall/Reinstall PE 4
Tue, 15 July 2008 22:15
Jim Atkins (Photoshop begginer)
The machine I am using is a MAC iMAC - intel dual processor, Tiger
version 10.4.11, 2 gigs ram. The problem program is Photoshop elements
4.

The Bridge feature was corrupt on my system. So I trashed the Bridge
folder. My PE 4 program was working w/o the Bridge feature. Went to
reinstall with my Photoshop disk. Can't do it because there is a program
already on the system is what the pop up box told me. Sooo...I trashed
the Photoshop Elements 4 folder from the Applications area. By the way I
rebooted after each trash session. Still could not reinstall program.
Pop up box said program installed on system. Sooo...I went to the HD
icon and open it. First time I have done this wasn't sure if I did the
right thing. Found the Photoshop 4 folder there and trashed it.
Rebooted. This time it installed the program from the CD up to a point.
Pop up box tells me "A file is missing" doesn't complete set up. Now I
have the program setting on my system but is not able to run. There are
no icons anywhere to be found. But the program and its components are
there on the HD. There is not an uninstaller on the CD. Is there an
uninstaller that the MAC system has to uninstall programs or is there a
3rd party program that can be used/purchased to uninstall the program so
I can reinstall it again .

What can I do to uninstall the program cleanly and do a reinstall with
out screwing my MAC's system up? Any help is appreciated.

Thank You in advance.

Jim A

Is it PSE6 or an over-zealous XP? What can I do to get my help back and have my pictures folder remain as read/write?

Now I have Easy-PhotoPrint and Adobe Elements 6.0. Which should i use to
print my digital picts for the BEST possible quality? And how do I
configure all of the mirriad of printer settings?

Oh yeah, my printer is a Canon Pro9000.

I did my own quick tests tonight and am a bit miffed:

#1 - Elements 220 ppi sRGB Print space
#2 - Elements 300 ppi sRGB
#3 - Elements 300 ppi Adobe RGB
#4 - Easy Photo-Print - No further adjustments
#5 - Easy Photo-Print - Vivid Adjustment

Image quality looks like a pretty close call between #4 and #5. It's a
picture of a person, and the flesh tones in tests 1-3 look too yellowish
green. Paper was 4x6 Canon Photo Paper Glossy.

Why is the quality LOWER from PSE than the freebie Easy PhotoPrint?

Thanks for any/all advice!
