Changing an animated GIF

This might be OT but I will ask the Question.
I am trying to alter an animated GIF using Adobe ImageReady7.0. I can alter all 6 layers but even though I loaded it as a GIF when I try to save it the program only allows PSD format. What stupidity am I responsible for doing. 8^)
