Hi,

Working with small images 100×100 or smaller and editing individual pixels, I find some areas of the image do not respond with the cursor over the pixel. I am using the pencil or brush tool with a size of one. It seems the editing can occur when the cursor is over to the right and sometimes down.

Is there a setting I am missing?

Thanks,
Ken

Ken,

It’s possible you have a selection active. If you do, Photoshop will only allow you to work on the selected areas.

Try this: Select – Deselect.

Also you might want to try zooming in more so you can see the pixels better.

there’s a bug when using the brush, even a square one, at the pixel level. been there at least since version 6. it tracks to the south east somewhat… use the pencil tool. it was supposed to be fixed (last I heard) in the next release (now known as PS CS).

hmmm i see you do mention the pencil tool. i’m pretty sure that worked. as jake said, check for an active selection (crtl-d before you start using the tool).

Thanks for the info. But I did not have anything selected. I also tried selecting the area I wanted to change but the selection also had the same problem.

I did find what causes the problem. When guides are next to the area I want to change then changing pixels is a problem.

It would be nice to know if the CS version has this fixed.
