I need to resize a TIFF image from 1137 x 270 down to 341 x 81 while maintaining the sharpness level of the original. I’m using PS 5. Are there any tricks to resizing images and maintaining clarity?

Thanks

Filters>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask. Start with 60% radius 1.5, threshold zero and adjust each parameter until the image looks the best. Don’t overdo it.

I generaly leave the radius set to zero. The threshold should be higher in certain situations, for example a picture of a sign against a blue sky, when there is fine noise in the sky, and you want to emphasize only the most obvious edge details of the sign.

I have heard to step down the resolution over several times to get to the desired size.
Rather than go down to the final size all at once. Information is thrown away when you
resize that is what gives the lack of sharpness. I would go down to 720 then 480 and then
finally down to 240 pixels. I have also heard that 240 is a magic number of pixels, but I don’t
know the tech. of it.
