Would someone be able to advise me what would be the easiest way to recreate the fine lines seen on http://members.shaw.ca/annaps/lines/index.htm .

Would each of these lines be hand drawn or is there a way to simplify this.

thx

Anna

If your save this page to disk and look at it with your navigator, you vill see a 1 pixel x 98 pixels vertical strip called bg.
This strip is repeated accross the screen and down. I don’t know how this is done though.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I was aware that it was a 1 pixel wide strip that is being used as a background image on this website. I have also updated the page http://members.shaw.ca/annaps/lines/index.htm so that it doesn’t repeat over and over.

What I’m wondering is how this is what is the easiest way to reproduce this in photoshop?

Anna,

This sort of effect can be achieved with noise gradients: http://www.chainstyle.com/freebies.html

Or, of course, a casual visit to www.artistmike.com will not only do this, but will fulfull your every wish with zero effort on your part. —

Create a 1xN vertical image, and apply a noise gradient. —

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Here’s what I came up with…this was done using the noise filter with 2% noise, then using free transform to stretch the effect.

Looks good. You can also set the width to 1 pixel, and have html stretch the image for you by specifying a width of 100%
