no problems with xp and ps. plenty of problems with outhouse. why are you using that trash?!!
XP is rock solid. Of course, safe computing would dictate that you visit the Windows update site at least once a week and keep up to date on security patches.
Bob
Or use the automatic update utility in Windows to notify you when updates are available and allow for – drum roll please – automatic updates. Particularly handy if you have a broadband connection.
As for Outlook Distress – the solution is simple…don’t use it.
Windows XP plays well with Photoshop. No worries.
I really dread having to put up with WinXp and the constant need to fix it, fix it, fix it.
I know Billy Boy deserves a lot of sass for getting stuff out fast instead of right, but OE has never been a problem with me. It’s just that darn Java thing he has against Sun that irks me.
How about some comments on Win2000? Better than Win ME?

Win2K is also rock solid, but is prone to the exact same security problems as XP.
There is no reason to fix it, fix it, fix it. I visit the Windows Update site regularly and see no problems with my computer (unless of course you see that as fixing it).
Now if you want to talk about something that’s been broken since day one, let’s talk WinME. It was and still is a piece of junk.

I’ve used Windows XP since the day it came out, and it is by far the most stable Windows OS I’ve ever used. Downloading a few patches here in there is not a big concern.

You shouldn’t be comparing Windows Me and Win2000. Windows Me is an unstable hunk of crap, that even Microsoft seems embarrased by.
Anything NT is better then 9x especially ME.
Agreed.
I originally did not think I would like XP. Seemed to plushy for me, I decided to try it when it came with a new computer and It quickly grew on me. I’ve been using it a year now and it has NEVER crashed one met (yet). Photoshop runs perfectly fine on XP too and I am frequently running Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Internet Explorer, yahoo messenger AND Outlook express all at the same time.
I’ve also been running Win2k and Photoshop at work going on 3 years now and have had some issues. I do not think that these are Win2k issues though. I think my problems at work are due to the fact that our IT dept likes to save time by cloning computers rather than doing fresh installs. At work, same as at home I’m running 5 to 6 programs simultaneously.
Definatly stay away from ME, if your wanting to stick with a dos based OS your better off going back to 98se.
ME = Many Errors.
I’m surprised this thread has maintained Mac User virginity.
don’t know what happened to my last reply—-thanks all–I’ll definitely stay away from WinME. I’m not looking forward to a new comp with WinXP, but I’ll suffer through it. Hope you’ll all be there for more answers when I need ’em………….thanks much MM
Marie,
I don’t think you’re in for any "suffering" with WinXP. I don’t know who you’ve been talking to, but there is nothing to fear from this OS, as long as you keep your updates, er, updated – which as has been mentioned is a nearly automatic process.
but I’ll suffer through it.
LOL! Marie, xp is a DREAM compared to win 9x/me. If you don’t like the candy interface, switch back to "Classic" mode (that’s how I run it). But it’s stable, it’s faster, it’s just plain better. You’re gonna love it after a week. I promise.
Hope you’ll all be there for more answers when I need ’em…..
we will! 🙂
