What is the best Monitor for Photoshop work. Is the 21 inch Sony GDM-F520 still king? Is it that much better than the Sony 21 inch CPD-G520 which is half the cost? The only difference that I can see is that the F520 has a dot pitch of .22 versus .24 for the G520. Does that really make that big of a differnce?

What about the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070? How does it compare to the Sonys?

Are there any advantages to the wdescreen monitor from Sony for Photoshop work (GDM-FW900)? What about the variable dt pitch from .23 in the center to .26 at the edges. Will this result in the photos looking distorted?

I read somewhere during my research that Sony will halt their production of CRT’s next year. What effect should this have on a customer (less availablility of parts and service, prices will begin to fall)

Finally, should I be considering any LCD monitors? Are any close to the CRT’s in terms of color fidelity and sharpness? IF so, what are the models? Or should I just wait six months so that the LCD technology can catch-up or surpass the CRT technology? Cost is not a primnary consideration,

I’ve always been using sony monitors , but this year I switched to the 2070 Mitsubishi and can only say I will not
go back to sony soon. The Mitsubishi is much sharper and sony is more expensive.
I don’t think that for the price of the Diamond pro 2070 you will find anything better easily.

Iiyama 22" is as good and cheaper. And it uses the same tube Mitusubishi uses but gets better results.

No don’t get an LCD/TFT, unless you are willing to spend large amounts of money on something from say, Eizo. You say cost isn’t a consideration (lucky you <g>) so go and find an Eizo you like and buy that if money is no object. Otherwise stick with a CRT like the Iiyama.

Just throwing my nickel in, I have a LaCie electron-blue IV and I love it. Specs are top notch and if color work is critical, the company has a calibration set-up available. The monitor is available in a 19 inch and 22 inch version. I got the 19 as the larger one would not fit on my desk. Cost is reasonable: more than average but less than absolute top dollar and the performance is near the top.

That’s just my opinion and YMMV, so if you reach a different conclusion, I’m not offended.
