Hi Everyone! Just wondering if someone could please help me! We have photoshop V7 installed but when I click on the icon to open it, it goes through the motions and once loaded it just disappears from the screen.I have tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it and putting on an update, but it comes up that photoshop can’t be found?????We are running windows XP.Could it be a problem with the virtual memory at all, and if so how would I go about fixing it? Cheers, Chris.

Chris, reset your prefs- hold ctrl + alt + shift on start up and click "yes" when prompted (further instructions are in the FAQ). That should sort it.

The update problem means that your serial number has been compromised- you’ll need to phone Adobe customer services to sort that out. Again, instructions about this are in the FAQ.

Thanks so much Helen! I have done that and I have photoshop back again! It is still freezing though(Only when using the magic wand tool).Do I have to recreate the preference file and if so, could you please explain how I do this.Cheers, Chris.

PS automatically creates the prefs files. As for the freezing, is it just PS or the entire computer?

Thanks for that Bob! The freezing usually only occurs in photoshop whilst using the magic wand tool. The computer does freeze at times but not consistently!Cheers, Chris.

If the entire system is freezing up you have a hardware problem or possibly a bad driver somewhere.

I have the same problem, only it happens when I try to open something from the "my pictures" folder. I can open from the photoshop samples folder as well as others just fine, but when I try to open from the other, PS just disappears….poof, gone.
