I am a PS newbie. I am having trouble with color. If I cut and paster web picture into PS, the colors are wacky. If I create a new graphi and save and use in a web page, the colors are wacky. The more I read I believe that PS is using only 256 colors for web compatibility.

Then I discovered edit –> color settings and set settings to ‘colo management off’ and things are better.

Am I on the right track and is there a good web site explaining colo management???

Am I the only one, or is color management a little frustrating fo newbies??

Thanks, Jim Linkou

Not a hundred percent sure but I think you are on the right track. I think there used to be more of an emphasis on web-safe colours. I think this was due to differences in graphics cards and that this is not as much of an issue now.
Doing a search for colour management on this newsgroup will probably bring you to hundreds of threads on the subject.
