HELP! I’m using PS 5.0; when I attempt to use the Resize Image wizard underneath the Help tab, the first menu window under the wizard appears, but the chioces are grayed out, and Photoshop locks up. I have to use Task Manager to close the program. Is this a glitch in PS 5 that other users have come across? Any help would be appreciated.

Most lockups are caused by driver problems, the most likely being your video driver.

As a diagnostic, try turning down hardware accelleration to zero – if that helps you definitely need an updated video driver

Unfortunately, that didn’t help. I lowered the acceleration to zero and got the same result.

I just tried that with the same result. Additionally, I can’t go to another open program or open browser window.

That suggest your CPU is running at 100%….Have you checked for Viruses?

I’ve checked for viruses (none found), and my CPU seems to be running between 7-22%.

Whci version of Photoshop 5.0 are you using, to the best of my memory I believe there were two updates 5.0.1 and 5.0.2 – although the update which is now still available on the Adobe updates page only mentions the
5.0.2 updater (perhaps it was combined into the one update these days).

Anyhow go and have a look at:-

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=3 9&platform=windows

and see if that helps if your version is the vanilla 5.0 —

I beleive that I have the generic 5.0 vesion. I did download the 5.0.2 plugin, but the results are still the same.

I’ve run into this problem with other versions of PS. Have you tried installing a dummy printer that uses a PostScript driver and making it the default printer before trying this operation?

I think that seems to correct that problem. Don’t know why?????? But I think that was the only way to resolve it.

Unfortunately, that didn’t work either. After toggling between screens, PS allowed me to get to the third menu item (LPI screen), but it locked up thereafter.
