I have an old Minolta SRT 101 that I have had for years. I am thinking of buying a new digital SLR. My question is will my lens work with the new digitals or is it just to old.
Old manual-focus lenses do not work with modern digital SLRs, which expect autofocus lenses. (I have a Canon AE1 manual-focus body and a large collection of lenses, none of which will work with my new Canon digital SLR body.) Sorry!
My old manual-focus Nikon lenses work on my Fuji S2 just fine. I can view at full aperture, the focus indicator works, and so forth. Only problem is I can’t meter; but that’s a design decision, not a technical limitation; the D1 and D2 series can meter with such lenses also.
So it’s not a universal rule. I believe there are ways to use some older Pentax lenses on the new Pentax digital SLR bodies, and ditto Olympus.
