I have a similar problem in Photoshop 7.01. When I go to save, it sometimes unexpectedly shuts down the program. It’s as if the process were just killed. It doesn’t ask to save the current file or anything. It also doesn’t give a window’s error reporting box like most other programs do when they crash. It’s as if I had the file saved and just clicked the "X" to close. Although it shuts down very fast. Just gone.
I have ben reading more FAQ’s and I tried erasing all of my *.psp files. It seemed to help a lot. Last night I had gotten the program to where it would really do wierd things (ie the layers pallette was garbled and "dancing" around, PS wouldn’t deal with image size changes , etc.) I erased the .psp "preferences (all of them) and it seems to work fine. The "Save As" even works.
A .psp file is a Photoshop Preferences file? This is a fresh install plus fresh installs of a few filter packs (Alien Ware). Sometimes it crashes and sometimes it doesn’t. But it’s always when I choose "Save As"
My install was new but I had had an older version and some remenant .psp (preference) files. It also creates some .psp files as soon as you begin to use it. Beyond that, you exceed my knowledge base of whats going on. Sorry.
