I have a PSD that I need to "divide" into equal parts (i.e. 64x180). Is
there any easy way to do this ? Right now I am setting my selection window
w/the sizes, copying each section and pasting into a new file so I can
export it out for web.

Thanks.

You can use Canvas Size to cut the dpcument in a letf half, then save as
a new document , then make a right half and save as a new document.
Select All and crop each doc after it's initially made.

Since you're doing it for the web, jump to Image Ready and use the slice tool.
From that, you can output the individual slices as well as the html.

Use the slice tool, and "Save for Web", and save the images only.

If you want the output to be in a Web format, then make it easy on yourself.
Use ImageReady. Go to 'create guides', then 'slices' and 'create slices from
guides'. Done!

Are you dividing it into four quadrants...top left, top right, bottom left,
bottom right? Unlock the background layer, if it isn't already and press
CTRL+T to resize. make sure Snap and Ruler is enabled and drag both
horizontal and vertical guides out which will snap to the center of the
transform box. Press ESC to clear the transform box and grab your slice
tool. Click create slices from guides, name the slices with the slice select
tool and "save for web." No need to go to ImageReady.

For this to work you need to "pretend" to resize a layer that is the exact
dimension of your file. If you select a layer that has been enlarged or is
smaller and off center, this won't work. Another way is to fill an empty
layer and "pretend" to resize it.

Peadge :-)

A couple tips on dividing an image into four equal sections using Photoshop.

1. create new guides (View - New Guides), but in the 'location' box, type
"50%" for vertical and horizontal.

2. under View set "Snap to" to guides (and snap-to to 'guides' and
'borders').

3. use the marque tool, starting near the center to select each section,
then Layer- New Layer by Cut.

4. under File - Automate - Scripts there is a Save Layers to Files. Do that.

Done!

(To assemble them again, use Photoshop's File - Automate - Photomerge)

If there's a way to easily select only areas between guides I haven't found
it yet. Has anyone?

One more thing - correction - Using Automate - Merge Photo is _spendy_ in
terms of memory (and presumably you are working with very large images) and
isn't so good (IMHO). Doing it manually might be better. And don't forget
that you _can_ work with massive files using the 'Large Document' feature
(Preferences, File Handling)
