Now imagine that a system slow down happens while using the clone tool.
Maybe (I am using well placed speculation) there is sufficient timelag for the source pixels to be a little bit phased especially if the distance between source and destination sites is not too large. Just maybe the source actually picks up what is in memory but not onscreen. This, if it ever happened, could give the user the forgiven impression that spurious elements are appearing.
Whan after all it is just a bit of phasing between source and destination data sites
