I am trying to change the background color of a picture. However after a few changes, it started not being the colors I selected. Any ideas?

Nope; you are not clear on what you are doing, so your question is impossible to answer.

ow are you changing the background color? What kind of image? What is the background color to begin with?

I am changing it with Fill. First I cut the image then Fill it. It is a PSD file. The background color is yellow , but I get brown(whatever I change it is not even close). By the way I am using Photoshop 7. (Tacit) wrote in message news:…

Hi John,

You need to first create a new later and place it underneath the layer of the photo/image you are working with. Fill that new/bottom layer with yellow. Using whatever method you are familiar with, cut out the bits on the original image where you want yellow to show through.

That’s one way to do it, and they are many others.

Best,

Randy

It is not clear what you mean by "cut the image." When you say you "cut the image," what are you doing?

I assume by "fill" you mean you use the Edit->Fill command.

The background color is yellow , but I get brown(whatever I change it is not even close).

What settings are you using in the Fill command? If the Fill command does not fill with the foreground color, then you are probably instructing it to fill in a reduced opacity, or in a blending mode other than Normal.

Cutting the image was just selecting the image and use Edit-Cut. I used foreground color with 100% opacity with Normal mode. This is why I couldn’t undestand why after the first couple of times it started not being the color I selected as foreground.

The option of New Layer was not available. Please let me know of other ways. Thanks. Randy Wentzel …

What kind of image is this? If it’s in Indexed Color mode, you can’t create layers, and fills or oher color changes will not work as you expect.

Are you in CMYK color mode? Maybe the color choice is out of gamut.

Peadge 🙂
