I have been using a Tektronix (Xerox) Phaser 560 with extended features for a number of years. I am now looking to upgrade it to a new printer for a design studio. The Phaser 560 is a colour laser network printer with postscript, so I am looking to purchase one with similar capabilities. However, print quality is of primary concern so I am willing to consider good inkjets and other types of printers as well.
The primary use for the printer will be for accurate colour proofing (for our own use as well as presentation to clients), and printing short run job for clients.
Budget-wise, I am looking within a reasonable price range. I understand that some inkjets can be very economical but I am not sure of the quality of the prints. However, I have heard that some are very good. In general, anything that falls within US$1500 is good. But I am willing to consider something more expensive if it produce good prints.
Thanks for any suggestions.
