I made a circle and tried to paint inside with the paint bucket, then I got an error massage :

could not use the paint bucket because the content
of the layer is not directly editable

That’s because you used the shape tool to create the circle. You can’t edit that with the paint bucket.

Instead, use the Marquee tool, create your circle then fill with the paint bucket.

You need to rasterize the layer. Go to Layer – Rasterize – Shape.

As an alternative, you could use the marquee tool (ellipse) and fill that.

Chorba,

You created a (vector) shape layer. You cannot fill a vector with the paintbucket.

You need to select "Fill Pixels" symbol in the Options bar if you want to use the paintbucket
