Hi, everyone,

By using drawing tools, I can draw a circle with filled background. But how can draw a unfilled circle?

Thank you

I assume you mean a circle with a stoke with no fill. There are more than a few ways of doing it:

I think this would be the easiest way:

1)Create a circle with the circle shape tool. The circle you will create will have a fill.

2)On your layer pallet, set the fill to 0%.

3)Then, Layer>Layer Style>Stroke. Specify the color and stroke weight and that should be it.

Of that doesn’t work, let me know. There is more than one way to skin this cat.

Draw your circle, fill it, keep it selected, then from the menu: Select/Modify/Contract – if you set 1, border will be 1 pixel, 2 = 2 pixels, etc.

There is another alternative that I think will save you a couple of steps. Pick the Elliptical Marquee Tool and drag on your layer, holding the SHIFT key to get a perfect circle. The go to Edit-Stroke where you can select the width of the stroke as well as its position and color. Click OK and that’s it.

Since there’s always at least three ways to do anything in Pshop, here’s a third way:

Instead of making a Shape layer, use the Shape tool to create a work path, select the brush and painting tool you want, and press Enter on the numeric keypad to stroke it. I think this works with the Alpha Enter key now, too.

Or you can do the same thing from the Paths palette menu.
