Photoshop CS could not initially be installed on my machine (Windows XP) because I have it set to use Windows large fonts. The problem is that the <Accept> button on the user agreement falls on the agreement itself and is not active (except it scrolls of the screen if you read the agreement). Since you can neither accept nor cancel, the machine is hung and has to be turned off.

After I set the screen fonts to "normal" and rebooted, the Photoshop CS installation went correctly. The program also seems to work correctly with "large fonts" selected after another reboot, its just the installer that does not.

Had PS CS not worked with large fonts, I’d be quickly turning around to cancel my order from Amazon for the upgrade. That’s one pet peeve of mine…that some applications actually are designed around small fonts. If the Accept "button" is just an embedded hot spot in the user agreement that one cannot tab to, and thus requires a small font setup, then that sounds like an oversight on Adobe’s part. I think it is Dreamweaver that I’ve seen installed before on a system with large font settings that resulted in some sort of prompt notifying the user that menus may not appear correctly unless small fonts were used. I think all was OK in the end, but just to even think Macromedia would’ve been that sloppy with their GUI design made me skeptical of ever wanting to purchase their applications. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen an Adobe application that couldn’t make use of the large font setting. I’m happy to hear all worked well in PS CS after you reverted back to the large font setting.

I too encountered this problem, with similar solution for install,

However Photoshop CS does have a problem when XP has large fonts set. This may be seen in the camera raw panels (look at the preview check box legend and the radio buttons for basic/advanced — text is split on two lines and is essentially unreadable) and in the lens tab (text truncated). Another place that has problems is the File Info screens: entered text is OK but text displayed (such as but not limited to camera exif data) has bottom of text lines cut off.

This is at the inconvenience level: I know what the camera raw text is, and for the file info I usually can make out what is being displayed.

Does seem like it would be worth a fix? Is the problem recognized by the developers?

I had the same problem on two computers, both with large fonts enabled, and a friend failed with her two computers. I called two weeks ago when I attempted to install, the techie said someone else had the problem that day, and he walked me through a workaround. The large-font idea never came up in the conversation.

My friend called Adobe today (11/20) to complain and demand a new install disk and they proceeded to tell her that her computer had too many programs loaded, insisting that she disabled them in MSCONFIG.
Again, no mention of large fonts.

Don’t these twirps read their own newsgroup? Robert’s message was posted three weeks ago! You’d think this tidbit would filter down to tech support by now. Maybe if we shout loud enough Adobe will HEAR IT WHEN WE TELL THEM TO LISTEN!
