Very large image and PS CS performance

I’m anxious to receive the new PS purchased a few days ago…

In the meantime, I would like to know impression from user about the performance of the new Photoshow when used to manage very large image (~ 20K). It’s like the 7.01 version or the new code allow some speed boost?

Now way to fully load 4gb of ram using winXP-Pro ?

I think you’d better define very large again. 20k is a tiny file.

On the other hand, if PS could handle very large files as if they were but 20KB files….that would be sweet! 😉

Yes, I agree with Robert, a 20K image is a tiny size for the new 300K CS maximum image size limit !

Now paying more attention to your use of "K" rather than "KB", I think Robert and I both misinterpreted your first posting to be in reference to the image FILE size. Now I realize you’re referring to image dimensions. While 20,000 pixels square was big, yes Photoshop CS is definitely going for "huge" now at 300,000 pixels square.

Um, I think you mean 20MB? Photoshop certainly doesn’t limit images to 300K…

hi, I am looking for answers and I believe you could help me. I want to see an image that is 106 x 14 inch, but photoshop 7 tells me that there is a problem parsing. Could it be because of the size? thanks.

Masaak,

The size of the image sounds entirely possible as the source of your problem, but that would also depend upon what the resolution of the image is. If the resolution exceeds 283 ppi, yielding more than 30,000 pixels along the 106-inch side, then my understanding is that would exceed Photoshop’s capability for opening the file.
