Hello,

I’m wondering if it’s possible to upgrade to PS CS from PS version 4. I’ve been clunking along with 4 but just got a spiffy new PC and want to get CS.

Any reason my v4.0 key won’t activate the CS upgrade?

Thanks,
Nate.

Nate,

With PS7, the format of the key was changed and I believe it is a key in this new format that is required when installing the PS CS upgrade. Although your use of PS4 should still qualify you for an upgrade, I think you will need to contact Adobe to be issued a key that meets the new format. If you have already registered your PS4 with Adobe, then proof of ownership should be no problem and they should be able to provide you a new key for your upgrade. Otherwise, you’ll probably need to have some sort of proof of purchase of PS4. If this is incorrect, I’m sure someone will come along who can correct me.

Regards,

According to some docs on the Adobe web site, the CS installer will only recognized Photoshop 5.5 and above, and all other versions will require a phone call to Adobe.

Yep. This is especially problematic for Mac users, who are asked to insert their Photoshop 4 floppy into the drive of their new Cheesegrater G5. They all have to contact Adobe.

Maybe they could use another machine and burn the floppy to a CD. Just an idea.
