Is this a new feature of CS? Combining Over and Under exposed images?

I thought I read somewhere in a CS review that it also had a way to combine two images, one exposed for the highlights and another for the shadows. You all know this trick to extend the dynamic range of a digital camera.
But, I can’t find anything like this so maybe the reviewer was refering to the new Shadow/highlight control. Or, I’m seeing things.
But, it sounds like something that ‘might’ have been implemented so I’m asking.

Just getting to know the new kid,
Paul

I don’t see any advantage to doing it with a new "feature" when the traditional method using layers is so functional and so powerful. Just my two-bits.

No, nothing there to combine images.

Are you thinking of the new Match Color Command? That would just match color schemes between images.

Actually, I have found that the Match Color Command has an effect on exposure too. However, you don’t have a whole lot of control over that part. But, it does some very interesting things.

However, it isn’t a combine image thing since using the same image as the source would get you nothing.

Just got back and thanks for the replies.
I haven’t tried the Match Color yet but that will be fun.

Wow, thanks….
That is just the effect, explained in another way.
Notice the reference to CS in the text. Hard to believe there are "How to’s" already for CS. But that’s marketing, I suppose.

Thanks a million for the read,

Paul, I think that you refer this tutorial at creativemac/digital media designer… it states that it is the old way to do things, now that we have the new shadow/highlight tool:

the new shadow/highlight tool is described here : < http://www.creativemac.com/2003/10_oct/tutorials/pscsshadow0 31028.htm>
dan, thanks for the link!
