I am new to PS 7. I am trying to make a background a website like this example <http://www.geocities.com/scyce/main-bottom.gif>

I think I want to use layers, but I don’t know how to make the curves.

Can anyone point me to a tutorial or tell me how to do this?

Thank you…

I filled three layers, from bottom up..
dark blue, brown, light blue.

You can use the pen tool to draw any shape that you want. After you have the desired shape, click on the paths palette. You can save your path by making sure it is highlighted in the palette, then clicking the little triangle in the circle you can click save path. I didn’t bother, I just chose make selection. Just click okay on the dialog box.

Now after you have your selection, highlight layer 2 and click the "add layer mask" button on the bottom of the palette.

Then, select layer three, and choose, select>modify>contract…3 pixels is okay unless you want more.

then with layer three selected click the add layer mask button.

now select layer 2, right cilck and choose blending options, from that new window that comes up, check the drop shadow style. Adjust the settings you wan there and click okay.

You could have just inverted your selection and deleted from the layer instead of making a layer mask.
