Michelle: I would use contrast/levels/curves adjustment layers to see if the objects you are looking for are actually there. Once you know where they are, there are many techniques for making them clearer. Remember to save an original separate from the adjusted versions.
Also play with your channels. You may find something that way.
Duplicate the layer, and set its blending mode to "Screen".
Then CTRL+J as many times as necessary to start bringing out detail hidden in the shadows.

P.S. If I pop them online they are about 1mb each. If I compress them down then that is going to obviously interfere with what may be in the photo. I took about 40-50 photos that night because I was taking photos of Mars too and a lot of them are just black (never taken photos of the sky before so I had no idea how they’d turn out) so I need to go thru and find which of all of them were of the sighting.

Quite a few US residents are aliens — illegal aliens, that is. And most of the rest of us are just legalized aliens. I think that process started with the Mayflower.
But, seriously, I also heard that many millions of US citizens believe they may have been abducted by aliens. I personally am very skeptical of such things. But one common basis for the suspicion of abduction is periods of time that are unaccounted for. Have you ever been driving on a long trip and realized that you have passed completely through a town and have no recollection of having done so? I have, and it is a bit unnerving. Even without aliens, it is kind of scary to think you drove through some complex traffic on "auto pilot."

I had to do something similar with something that appeared to be a light but not a light. The kind of thing *I* couldn’t see but the digital camera did. The most I could do – and this was before I had Photoshop, so I was working with Adobe PhotoDeluxe – was play with the contrast and brightness. Maybe some saturation. It was all a game of trial and error. Wish I could offer more but let’s face it: the folks at Adobe haven’t factored in the paranormal….at least, not intentionally. 😉

I have often thought it is ludicris to assume earth is the only place in the universe that supports life…this is simply something we, as humans, cannot begin to comprehend. The size of the universe is beyond our frame of mind (meaning we don’t really have an idea how big the universe is). This being said, to believe earth is the only place in the universe that has life is preposterous because the universe is so large, we may never know for certian. Is there life out there? IMO, yes.
If there is life out there, why have we never had any solid proof? Because there is no proof, doesn’t mean there is no life in the universe. In actual fact, life is SO rare in this infinite universe, that we may never encounter life…ever! Earth, IMO, is one of those rare blips in the universe that has life.

off topic= the way I see it, there’s too much out there for it all to be devoid of life. However, the pure distance involved means that even tho there probably is intelligent life out there, we’re extremely unlikely to ever hear about it. If we did ever hear about it, it would be millions of years old, and even if the civilization did still exist we’d have no way to ever go there. Communication would take millenia, so it’s all pretty pointless. That’s why I switched all my computers from , let em work on proteins instead of messages from long dead things we’ll never ever meet.
on topic= just stressing what someone already said, look at your channels. Odds are you’ll find it much easier to spot something on, say, the blue channel instead of looking at the full spectrum.
