OK please dont give me a hard time but I saw some strange things in the sky a month or two back. As it turns out it wasn’t just me, the radio and newspapers were flooded with reports. I was star gazing at the time and had my digital camera with me. I took photos but most didn’t come out. They were just all night. Anyway – one photo I saw my neighbours house outlined faintly so I adjusted the levels and a few other things to bring up what was really in the photo behind the darkness. It worked well but didn’t reveal the "UFOs" but I’m just fiddling, not really knowing what is the best way to enhance the photo.

What can I do to these photos (about 10 of them) to reveal what is hiding in the darkness if indeed anything came up. To describe what I’m looking for, it’s not a huge object or anything — would be the size of a plane in the distance and there were several off them all neatly spaced apart.

Michelle: I would use contrast/levels/curves adjustment layers to see if the objects you are looking for are actually there. Once you know where they are, there are many techniques for making them clearer. Remember to save an original separate from the adjusted versions.

Also play with your channels. You may find something that way.

Duplicate the layer, and set its blending mode to "Screen".

Then CTRL+J as many times as necessary to start bringing out detail hidden in the shadows.

Why should we laugh?

For your information; U.F.O. means Unidentified Flying Object.

Or didn’t you know that????

Thank you so much everyone for all the ideas. I will give them a shot over the next day or two and report back.

Wings — About half the population think someone who says they have seen a UFO is LOOPY .. or didn’t you know that? πŸ˜‰

Thanks again everyone.
Stay tuned for the UFO to be revealed LOL

P.S. If I pop them online they are about 1mb each. If I compress them down then that is going to obviously interfere with what may be in the photo. I took about 40-50 photos that night because I was taking photos of Mars too and a lot of them are just black (never taken photos of the sky before so I had no idea how they’d turn out) so I need to go thru and find which of all of them were of the sighting.

There are an awful lot of tin foil hat wearers in this forum. πŸ™‚

A third of US citizens believe they have been abducted by aliens at some point in their lives.

Or maybe they werenΒ΄t being quite frank when answering the poll..

….Or maybe they only surveyed people who were in emergency wards, complaining of rectal pain.

Oh, wait, I forgot that this isn’t the lounge. Um… yay Photoshop. There, that should help.

Mathias,

A third of US citizens believe they have been abducted by aliens at some point in their lives.

Quite a few US residents are aliens — illegal aliens, that is. And most of the rest of us are just legalized aliens. I think that process started with the Mayflower.

But, seriously, I also heard that many millions of US citizens believe they may have been abducted by aliens. I personally am very skeptical of such things. But one common basis for the suspicion of abduction is periods of time that are unaccounted for. Have you ever been driving on a long trip and realized that you have passed completely through a town and have no recollection of having done so? I have, and it is a bit unnerving. Even without aliens, it is kind of scary to think you drove through some complex traffic on "auto pilot."

Burton,

Or the other major happening when you drive into a town that you have never been to and for some odd reason you seem to know your way around.

Michelle–

I had to do something similar with something that appeared to be a light but not a light. The kind of thing *I* couldn’t see but the digital camera did. The most I could do – and this was before I had Photoshop, so I was working with Adobe PhotoDeluxe – was play with the contrast and brightness. Maybe some saturation. It was all a game of trial and error. Wish I could offer more but let’s face it: the folks at Adobe haven’t factored in the paranormal….at least, not intentionally. πŸ˜‰

Whew! I thought I was the only one and I thought it was because I hadn’t changed my tin foil — er, aluminum foil — lately. It does lose its efficiency with wear, you know. The way you can tell is when you hear echoes …

Michelle L,

Please post a link to an unedited (cropped, if you like) picture, and let the folks here have a shot at it. Nobody can do as good a job as CSI, but if there’s anything there, somebody will find it.

Jokes aside, there’s an awful lot of space out there, it’d be surprising if nobody’s using it.

<deep thought>

I have often thought it is ludicris to assume earth is the only place in the universe that supports life…this is simply something we, as humans, cannot begin to comprehend. The size of the universe is beyond our frame of mind (meaning we don’t really have an idea how big the universe is). This being said, to believe earth is the only place in the universe that has life is preposterous because the universe is so large, we may never know for certian. Is there life out there? IMO, yes.

If there is life out there, why have we never had any solid proof? Because there is no proof, doesn’t mean there is no life in the universe. In actual fact, life is SO rare in this infinite universe, that we may never encounter life…ever! Earth, IMO, is one of those rare blips in the universe that has life.

</deep thought>

I have taken my tin foil cap off and this is what happens.

off topic= the way I see it, there’s too much out there for it all to be devoid of life. However, the pure distance involved means that even tho there probably is intelligent life out there, we’re extremely unlikely to ever hear about it. If we did ever hear about it, it would be millions of years old, and even if the civilization did still exist we’d have no way to ever go there. Communication would take millenia, so it’s all pretty pointless. That’s why I switched all my computers from , let em work on proteins instead of messages from long dead things we’ll never ever meet.

on topic= just stressing what someone already said, look at your channels. Odds are you’ll find it much easier to spot something on, say, the blue channel instead of looking at the full spectrum.

Burton,

You’re all aliens (‘cept maybe the Irish). Give America back to the Natives. They did a good job.

Regards

Mark
