This just started happening. Got PS CS last week and everything has been working fine. Today, when I save a jpg or tif or whatever kind of file, the other computer on my two computer network tries to open the file but says it is damaged or truncated and when it opens the top half of the photo is fine but the bottom half is black. Some files are completely black. Some show fine in file browser but can not open them without this error.

Never had this happen before. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Marion,

I assume the images are also corrupt when opened on Computer 1 ?

Are you saving across the network or to a local drive?

I suspect it MAY be co-incidence that you have just moved to CS, and some hardware has gone bad causing the file corruption.

Len,

Two brand new computers. One amd 64 3200+ and the other p4 3.2. Images are corrupt if saved on other computer then opened up on mine and visa versa. If I save on my computer and open it is fine. Is this a network thing? All was working well yesterday. Now my laptop with PS 7 I can open and retrive on other computers with no problem. That is why I suspect something with PS CS.

Marion,

Is this a network thing? <<

Almost certainly! The image file itself is not corrupted, but the data becomes corrupt whilst reading it across the network.

Incidentally, Adobe doesn’t support working across the network unless you are using Version Cue. THe official advice is copy across the network to the local drive and open from there

I had a feeling that is what is was also. It just happens I installed PS CS on new computers. I knew I could get help in this great forum.

Thank you, Marion
