There’s also a topic on this in the FAQ with a couple of good techniques (including the one above, which I use and works brilliantly).
Thanks, they all work easier than painting over.
Red Eye removal using Photoshop.
I take no credit for this method of removing red-eye from a photograph. It comes from a friend of mine where he got it from I do not know.
1: You zoom in on the required eye. Red part
2: Use one of the selection tools to select the eye. Do this with a small feather of say 1 to give a smooth edge for your selection.
3: If you require both eyes then hold down the shift key and select the other eye or you could do one eye at a time.
4: From the Window on the menu bar open the Channel option and select the Green channel. 5: Next use the Edit> copy (this is to copy the Green channel) 6: Still with the eyes selected, select the Red channel. 7: From the Edit menu select Paste Into this is like the Green to the Red. 8: Then select the Blue channel and repeat the Paste Into, Green to Blue. 9: Then select the RGB channel
All done. What I like about this method is that you do not lose the sparkle in the eye, and the white part in the centre of the eye, if not all red. You may have to play about with any flash on the side of the eye as you sometimes get a little bit of white which is not a part of the pupil, but you can use the healing brush for this.
Hope this works for you as it does for me.
