What are the freeware/open source and for-sale software apps that will allow me to manipulate lighting rendering in a 2D photograph, aside from the expensive Adobe Photoshop?
I studied this question on the internet, and I kept finding out about these great apps that can allow one to produce versions of the 3d object one is working with, with the lighting source’s angle and intensity changed. But I could never find out if these whizbang programs that do these light rendering tricks with 3D objects, can do them with 2D objects.
In general are the apps that are able to effect light rendering with 3d objects able to do such with 2d objects?
What are the apps that allow one to most easily transform a 2D object in say a jpeg into a 3d object that can be worked with with the 3d programs?
What I am after is not a 3d object that can be looked at from various angles or the production of an avi type movie. I just want to start and end with a still photo but with the end product having more of that 3D look. I want an end product that has that 3d look without it being necessary for the viewer to use 3d glasses.
I heard of an open source software called povray (
