I just got a look at the new photomerge feature in PS CS.
Wow.
It isn’t doing anything you couldn’t do before, but the time it saves is amazing. I had 3 pics open, landscape photos where a friend had just taken a snapshot, turned about 35 degress, taken another, turned again, etc. of a green valley. PS thought about it for about 30 seconds and popped up a screen that had all 3 photos merged exactly where they should be, overlapping as needed. All I did was open the 3 and go to photomerge.
Very impressive. I’ll need to adjust the lighting on the originals to equalize them a bit before I have a really nice panorama, but that’s the next new feature I’m hoping to test out. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be able to talk my manager into shelling out for the upgrade (have to do Illy and ID first, even those will be a tough sell) but playing with my buddy’s pc has really got me fired up about it.
