I would think RAW is worthwhile for any image that you might anticipate wanting to make an enlargement of. The more you enlarge the image, the more it would be preferable to have an image free of any compression artifacts, not to mention as much of the orginal image data as possible. With my Olympus, I often shoot TIFFs rather than RAW images, although TIFFs are even larger. The advantage for me is that the TIFFs are already processed some by the camera and usually provide a good starting point for me, as opposed to my own color balancing and sharpening of the RAW file. I don’t know that I’d ever buy a camera that didn’t offer an option for saving images in an uncompressed format, whether RAW or TIFF.
