Does Window/Workspace/Reset Palette Locations still exist in CS? [I’m still on PS 7]
Yes, Window/Workspace/Reset Palette Locations still exists on CS, but it only relocates the palettes as far as I can tell. Dialog box locations when they appear are unaffected.

Of course …
I think you need this from the FAQ:
Mathias Vejerslev "Dialog box is missing??" 10/29/02 1:06pm </cgi-bin/webx?50>
which says it should be fixed in the next release … 🙁
Trash prefs should work but is a PITA, you could try setting monitor resolution to its highest setting, that may bring them partially back, then drag em over and reset res.
Doh! I see that this is an FAQ. Adobe has recognized it as a bug and plans to fix it in the next release.
Does anyone else find these forums extremely difficult to navigate and find info?

Tom…
It might work for you to create two sets of preferencesone for single monitor set up, and another for dual monitor. Then you can trade them in and out depending on how you’re working. It might be easiest to set up another user account on your machine so you don’t have to move the preference files manually.
And no, I find the navigation of these forums quite easy and intuitive. But then, I’ve been visiting for years, so I’m used to it.

I too find the forums easy enough to get around.
Took me a while to figure out subscribing, which enables me to keep tabs on threads that interest me.
Thanks for all the tips! I’ll definitely try creating two sets of preferences.
I’ll play around with my forum preferences and subscribing too.. I came from the Rob Galbraith forums, so I’m used to that environment. An Adobe employee there mentioned that they could read these forums using a threaded news reader. Is that possible for the general public or only available internal to Adobe?

the "next release" was supposed to be cs as this was discovered soon after 7 was released (and we found the problem went back to at least v6). i’m a little dissapointed that it’s not fixed.
"Reset Palette Locations" should work. Has always worked for me.
If it doesn’t, you could try another solution…. when working with just a single monitor… disable the dual monitor option through your video settings… then start photoshop…. when you want to use the second monitor, enable dual monitors and then start photoshop. Not sure if the above works…
Otherwise, simplest is after evry session, just drag the palettes over before you shut down PS.

Jay…
Palettes and dialogue boxes are two different animals, and they behave in different ways. Resetting Palettes doesn’t affect the positions of dialogue boxes.
Thomas,
Is that possible for the general public <<
Just point your NNTP client to "adobeforums.com" and use the same user-name/password as you do via the web interface.

Thanks Len, I like this much better!
