I cannot get the color management settings to work acceptably on PS CS. I have been using PS 6.0 with a custom monitor profile for my laptop’s LCD with no issues. Now all of my images – unless I discard the embedded profile – look overly yellow. In PS 6 this issue does not occur. I can also get the images to look correct if I change the Proof setting to "monitor profile." Unfortunately when using the file browser or worse Camera Raw 2.0 the yellow images persist. What am I missing?! I figured the install would go without a hitch. I am almost wishing I could send the upgrade back. Thanks for any assistance.

Hi Graham,

While I don’t remember the details, I do recall that Adobe changed the color management process in going from PS6 to PS7. I’m guessing PS CS retains the same process as PS7, but I’ve yet to confirm that since I’ve barely had PSCS installed long enough to do much with. I think you’ll find the best source of help to be Ian Lyons, via the information he provides at <http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps7-colour/ps7_1.htm>.

Daryl, Ian has already posted specific info for CS (some of the defaults settings are not the same) <http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps8-colour/ps8_1.htm>

Thanks Pierre…if I’d paid more attention, I probably would’ve noticed that. Then again, it’s the wee morning hours, so I’ll blame them.

This is really obvious, and you’ve probably already done this, but… Whenever you reinstall PhotoShop, Adobe Gamma is automatically placed in your "startup" folder. This may be conflicting with your custom profile, which also resides in the startup folder. Always remove the Adobe Gamma profile from the startup folder, unless of course you ARE using Adobe Gamma. I, for example, have a Monaco Systems custom profile which will not work correctly until I remove Adobe Gamma. Once it’s removed, color is fine again.

Problem solved by checking the "Ignore EXIF" box in the file handling section of the preferences. Thanks to all who replied. The digital-darkroom.com tutorial informed me of this crucial step in the setup.
