Hi All,

This is my very first post on here. Please direct me to the correct area of this forum if this isn’t the best place to ask for help.

Here goes: I’m a new user of PS 7.0 and I have loads of shots taken inside ice-rinks that look way too yellow and very dark. I’ve heard of "level adjustment" yet when I touch it the colours look "funny" and the whole photograph then looks "a bit grainy".

If anyone could provide me with some tips, etc. or the correct way to "better" those photos that’d be much apprreciated as I need to put them on a website very soon.

Thanks

J_K

You can start here.

There are also tons of other tutorial sites on the web. Try googling for few.

John;

The yellow cast is caused by using daylight balanced film under tungsten lighting conditions.

A quick and dirty way to correct the problems (not the best) is to:

Add an levels adjustment layer: Layer>New adjustment layer>levels

Click on the highlight dropper and click on a spot in the image that should be pure white.

Choose the black dropper and click on an area in the image that should be pure black.

This process is not reccomended for an image to be framed but can acheive a passable snapshot image.
